Communities Driving Professional and Social Networking in Dynamic Markets

NORWALK, CT (June 19) - In just two weeks, more than 3,000 professionals have joined new professional and social networks targeting the live event and magazine media markets launched by Red 7 Media, a leading publisher in both verticals.

EventPeeps.com (www.eventpeeps.com) and FOLIO: mediaPRO (www.foliomediapro.com) were launched as beta sites earlier this month and have grown rapidly since, with more than 1,500 members each.

"These active online business networks provide a voice and a means of connection and idea-sharing for thousands of people who otherwise would likely never meet. To be at the center of these communities and facilitate these connections is a very powerful place for a media brand to be," Red 7 Media CEO and President Kerry Smith says.

The sites feature networking tools including member search, comprehensive user profiles, user groups and forums, blogging tools, events, photos, job feeds and more.

"The magazine industry and its investors talk about social networking a lot and Lord knows people are throwing money at the stuff, " B2B media industry blogger Paul Conley (paulconley.blogspot.com) comments. "But until the arrival of MediaPRO, it seemed that only the early adopters had actually even logged on to a social media site."

The sites are powered by leading social networking platform Ning (www.ning.com), enhanced with integration of RSS feeds and other custom add-ons and widgets.

"With Ning, our networks will provide the gold standard of networking tools and a constantly updated feature set," says Dave Iannone, Director of Interactive Business Strategy at Red 7 Media. "That technology will be leveraged with the significant depth of content, audience and marketing assets that our magazines, events and web products offer."

So far, both networks showcase a full range of professionals in both industries - from the newbie just starting out to c-level industry visionaries.

"The professional world is now fully engaged with, and understands the value of, online communities," FOLIO: Publisher and General Manager Tony Silber says. "Industry professionals across the country and throughout the world can connect directly with one another as they seek to grow their businesses and advance their careers."

FOLIO: mediaPro covers all aspects of the magazine, e-media and publishing industries, including B2B and Consumer media, audience development, city and regional publishing, marketing, sales and editorial. EventPeeps.com is focused on the live event industry, with segments including event and meeting planners, marketers, designers, trade show management and event production.

"EventPeeps.com is an important tool for our readers and the event industry at large to develop business relationships," Dan Hanover, Publisher/Editor and General Manager of the Red 7 Events media group says. "It is quickly becoming a rich online destination for our members to offer their opinions, pose question and learn from each other."

Red 7 Media (www.Red7Media.com), recently ranked by Inc. Magazine as the fastest growing private company in periodicals, is a privately held business media company that publishes magazines, web sites and newsletters, and produces conferences and trade shows in the Event and Media industries.
